Summer Home Maintenance Checklist

Summer is a great time to preform general home maintenance projects. Here are a few tasks to consider this time of year:

• Wash the outside of the home.
• Look for signs of destructive insects.
• Clean carpets/floors.
• Clean and repair outdoor BBQ, smoker, or outdoor kitchen.
• Vacuum fridge coils.
• Inspect foundation for drainage problems.
• Clean the windows and screens. Repair any holes on screen or replace them if needed.
• Fix driveway and sidewalk cracks.
• Schedule A/C maintenance.
• Clean chimney.
• Replace HVAC filter.
• Inspect and repair siding and peeling paint. Fix or replace damaged siding. Strip peeling paint and replace it with a new coat.
• Check the basement or crawl space for moisture issues. Pay attention to musty smells, water stain, and damp surfaces.
• Perform routine maintenance on yard equipment.
• Inspect roof for damage.
• Clean, refinish, and seal deck and play set.
• Pressure wash deck/patio.
• Clean exterior dryer vent.
• Invest in a carbon-monoxide detector; every house should have at least one.
